| Happy New Year with Energy Hello, |
|
|
| Every life is heroic I have just finished reading a book called 'From the Promised Land to the Lucky Country', written by a dear friend. This is a true story of heroic people. Renate's life on three sides of the world is inspirational. With her parents she travelled from Germany to Eretz Israel before WWII, and with her husband Gerry she migrated from Israel to Australia, where she knew little of the language and even less of the customs. Later they moved to the US to study chiropractory and set up a sucessful clinic in Western Australia. Renate's story is one of courage, a pioneering spirit, true love between man and wife and other family members, overcoming obstacles and having adventures and fun along the way. It is truly an energizing read. See below for details. |

| What is it that creates pioneers? One theory is that there is a group of people who are like Leonardo DaVinci. There is supposedly a specific personality type which embraces the new, unusual and creative way of life, and this has been called the DaVinci Type. Some of the characteristics of these people are:
Are
you a DaVinci type:? Does it energize you to create your own luck,
do impulsive and adventurous things, and think outside the square?
Do you seek new ways to do things and enjoy the heady excitement of
living on the edge? Or are you content to live a 'normal' routine
life?
Notable
DaVinci type people are Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey
and Walt Disney. |

| Freedom or entrapment? In my December newsletter I wrote about the energy of children. Children naturally rebel against being restrained. Hold a baby tightly to your lap and he will wriggle, fight and protest until released. On the other hand, if not held tightly he will often sit quietly. |

| Being held down or trapped can make us fearful, and fear is a jailer that can hold us where we don't want to be. In the case of Renate and her husband Gerry, they didn't like the circumstances they were being coerced to accept in Israel, and so they moved to a new place and new challenges. They now travel freely between Israel and Australia and enjoy both life-styles With me - by 2000 I was beginning to feel confined by my life in a small town in the Northern Territory where I had spent more than 40 years, so in 2001 I moved to the Gold Coast to new places, new faces and new adventures. You too can design your Ideal Life - the one that will energize you on a daily basis. If you hold the image clearly in your mind without wavering, and take steps towards it, the dream will become a reality. |

On New Year's Eve, before going out to celebrate, I watched a re-run of the movie 'Groundhog Day' and it had a big impact on my thoughts for 2007. In this movie, a TV weather man, Phil Connors, reluctantly travels to Punxsutawney to report on Groundhog Day for the fourth year in a row. After spreading his negative energy around all day, he awakens on the following morning to the beginning of Groundhog Day again, and this repeats again and again, day after day. |
|
|
The message in the movie is profound. At first it appears that Phil has no control over his day, but eventually (he is a slow learner) he discovers that he can put the time to good use by helping the townspeople, and learning new skills, such as how to play the piano. He becomes a hero in the town and wins the heart of his producer, the beautiful Rita. The final message is clear. When he expresses true love for Rita, he finally makes it out of Groundhog Day with a changed attitude and a spirit of joie de vivre. (Joy of Life) It's curious that on New Year's Eve I had the feeling that I had been stuck in Ground Hog Day for part of 2006. While I had achieved much, I hadn't traveled anywhere, and had created some obstacles which slowed me down. Not good for a 'DaVinci Type'. But now I am on the move again. I have new challenges and I can feel the energy picking up. I spent a wonderful few days with my son and family over Christmas, and am off to Orange (New South Wales) and Bendigo (Victoria) for more family fun and exciting adventures. |

In 'The Energy Book for Life' I have written about how you can change de-energizing experiences to energizing ones. In other words, do a 180º Flip. One of my challenges in 2006 was when I fell and cracked my pelvis, tearing muscles and tendons - very painful. Although I had embraced the concept of focussing only on what I want in my life, and I use some affirmations to keep my thinking straight, I couldn't work out how to affirm being 'pain-free' without restating the word 'pain' and so re-enforcing it in my mind. Now I know I read the book that was behind the movie, 'The Secret', - 'The Masterkey System' It was written nearly 100 years ago by Charles F. Haanel. In this book he tells the story of a man called Frederick Andrews who was told at the age of thirteen that he would never get well. However, he grew from 'a little, crooked, twisted, cripple, going about on hands and knees, to a strong, straight and well formed man'. |
||
He did this by affirming to himself over and over again, 'I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy'. He kept up this affirmation, always the same, never varying, till he could wake up in the night and find himself repeating it. It was the last thing on his lips at night and the first thing in the morning. On the right is the affirmation for you to use. I'd love to hear of your success with it. |

am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy' |

| A funny thing happened to me today. Funny means laughter, and that means Energy with a capital 'E'. I have been designing a website for another DaVinci personality and he arrived to pay me some money. That was Energizing in itself. My client is a performing artist, and had just come from a show he did where he impersonated and imitated many singers. He gave me a personalised demonstration of his talents and had me rocking with laughter. What a great natural energy booster for him - to be able to sing and entertain, and a wonderful energy booster for me too. My client has been setting up a new business for which the website is being designed. He is taking on huge and exciting challenges like a true DaVincian. |

| Having composed a kind of paste from wax, Leonardo made figures of animals, entirely hollow and slight in texture, which he then filled with air. When he blew into these figures he could make them fly through the air, but when the air had escaped they fell to the earth. One day one of his friends found a very curious lizard, and for this creature Leonardo constructed wings, made from the skins of other lizards, flayed for the purpose. Into these wings he put quicksilver (mercury), so that when the animal walked the wings moved with a tremulous motion. He then made eyes, horns and a beard for the creature, which he tamed and kept in a case. He would show it to the friends who came to visit him, and all who saw it ran away terrified. |

| I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return. Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen. I
have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough;
we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do. |
