Look upwards for Hello, |

So much has happened since I last wrote, and not all of it good. But when something goes wrong I always ask: 'What's good about this I'm not getting' |
||
| ..and the answer comes in gratitude for what I have. As I flew back from Sydney to my beautiful Gold Coast, I had a wonderful un-interrupted view out of the window at the late afternoon sun over the clouds. I have always loved clouds, and especially looking down on them from above. I took photos. |

The next day, at home, I was going for my laps around the garden complex - down the hill and up the stairs - great for the legs, heart and abs - and I looked up at the clouds from below. I was treated to the most amazing display of white 'Angel Clouds' against the bright blue sky. It made me realize what a glorous world we live in. It started me thinking about 'looking up' for energy. Some years ago I did two fire walks with Anthony Robbins. The most important thing to do before stepping onto those burning hot coals was to look up. That's all I did - look up and walk, and I made the distance of 40 feet without injury. A miracle to someone who cannot walk on gravel without the small stones hurting my tender soles. In the Bible it says: "I
will lift up mine eyes unto the hills In another modality, the therapy for feeling depressed or cranky is to 'take a walk and look at things'. I have since discovered that looking up at things, especially nature, is the most therapeutic of all. When you look up, you see trees and birds as well as the sky, and at night the stars and the moon. The earth, the pavement, the buildings around us can sometimes appear to close us in, but looking up to the heavens gives a feeling of open-ness, space and freedom. Observe someone who is feeling bad, and you will notice they are invariably looking down. When you see somebody looking up you will get the feeling of their energy and happiness. |

In 'The Energy Book for Life' I have written about how you can change de-energizing experiences to energizing ones. In other words, do a 180º Flip. You can give yourself this gift. Next time you are feeling sad, angry or frustrated, step outside and just look up. Take a walk and look up. Then notice what you see, and express your gratitude for the world around you. You will discover the truth of this incredible natural energy booster. |

1000 Natural Energy Boosters I had a wonderful energizing holiday in January to Orange (NSW) via Sydney and Bendigo (Vic) via Melbourne, visiting family and having adventures. In a previous newsletter I wrote about the energy of children. Laughter and fun was the order of the days with 3 children under 9 years at Orange and 3 children 10-15 in Bendigo. The households were buzzing. We did child-like things, always energizing, like making a sand-castle, playing in the garden and feeding possums. The Energy of Gratitude clicked in as I appreciated the generous hospitality, the plethora of fresh fruit - stone fruit and apples straight from the trees, and the amazing scenery, not to mention meeting new people, being recharged at a church (spiritual energy) with the 'Parable of the Talents', my favourite bible story, and some business and website design brainstorming to keep my skills up to date. In Melbourne I visited Captain Cook's Cottage in the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens ( a 'Must See') and was delighted with its old world charm and quaintness. Even more so, I was thrilled that Victoria should take such exquisite care of this valuable part of our history. Even the Herb Garden was flourishing. What a delight to step back into the world of Captain James Cook - one of the many great men of history. The other treasure I discovered was the garden in the Conservatory, where I was transported into a fairyland of colour, water features, greenery and the cool serenity of nature. These are just a few of the thousands of natural energy boosters we can choose from to create excitement, pleasure and happiness. Read more in 'The Energy Book for Life'. |

Did you see yourself as a DaVinci Type after reading my January Newsletter? If you did, then you are constantly seeking new ways to expand your learning and your ability to invent and create new things or ideas. I love browsing at airport book stores, and always seem to find something amazing. True to form, at Sydney I picked up Tony Buzan's book 'Mind Map - The Ultimate Thinking Tool'. |
||
You may be familiar with Mind Maps - putting your ideas or plans on paper with colour, beginning with the central theme and drawing offshoots around it as you brainstorm. I wrote about this in my first book of my series 'Allow Yourself ...You Deserve It'. I had observed that Tony Robbins uses this method to record his presentations - he has an artist at the back of the room creating colourful mind maps of each segment of the program. But Tony Buzan's book is not just about mind mapping. It is about expanding your vocabulary. Why would you want to do this? Some of the things Tony Buzan says about 'verbal intelligence' are:

It's an interesting fact that many words are being dropped from modern dictionaries. It may appear that our vocabulary is shrinking, but is it expanding in different directions? In my internet favourites, I have an Australian Slang Dictionary and a Teen Slang Dictionary. The online www.wikipedia.org is a dictionary and encyclopedia, or your can go to www.dictionary.com Behind every word there is a wealth of mind expanding information to energize you. |

Help came from the sky... From Superman "Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman! And let's not forget Batman, who always seemed to swoop down from above: "Better three hours too soon than a minute too late." And if you thought you had problems!: "It's sometimes difficult to think clearly when you're strapped to a printing press." On a more serious note: Maya Angelou -American Poet, b.1928: “Lift up your eyes upon this day breaking for you. Give birth again to the dream.” From my autograph book .. Lois Preston wrote: The world is so full of a number of things,. I’m sure we should all be as happy as kings. Robert Louis Stevenson |
