| Natural Energy Boosters and Variety Hello, Variety and Diversity are energizing In my trips to Darwin and Bendigo, I was fascinated by the cultural diversity, and how this creates energy My daughter-in-law is Chinese..Her family have lived in Darwin for four generations, but they still hold to some Chinese traditions. |
|
|
I shared their vibrant Christmas Day party where English traditional Christmas food was served and a Chinese Santa came for the children - it was an exciting mix of Chinese and European culture. In Bendigo, I found Chinese-Australian heritage in the amazing 'Golden Dragon Museum', that contains the world's longest Imperial Dragons - Sun Loong and Loong. Chinese people featured strongly in the Victorian goldrush of the 1850's, as they did in Pine Creek in the Northern Territory. They know how to add variety, fun, imagination, and excitement to their lives. |

| As a contrast to Chinese culture,Captain Cook's Cottage in Fitzroy Gardens , Melbourme demonstrates the style of living of Australila's English heritage, going back to before Captain James Cook charted the eastern coast in the 1770's. This home, originally built in 1755 in Yorkshire England and owned by his parents, James and Grace, would be the oldest building in Australia. I am reminded of our cultural diversity when I attend social functions and I am sometimes the only Australian born person in the group. It's stimulating to share with friends from other backgrounds and gain a different perspective |

Another word for boredom is 'monotony' which comes from the word 'monotone' meaning one tone. Do you live a 'one tone' life, a life lacking diversity and variety - doing the same things every day or over and over in sections of the day? Colour is one thing that prevents boredom. Remember in a previous newsletter that I talked about Tony Buzan's Mind Maps, and his book, Mind Map - The Ultimate Thinking Tool. Believe it or not I am still reading the book. Here's something to try. Take the word FUN and put it in a coloured circle in the centre of a white page - oriented sideways. Then radiate from it 5 coloured lines. Write on each line something that is FUN to do. Draw pictures. Then radiate out another five lines from each and write something that comes to mind. Use colour, draw pictures and let your imagination run wild. The result - you will have 30 fun activities to try. There will be no room for boredom in your life, and you can continue to add to this. All of the 'fun' activities are Natural Energy Boosters for you. When you take notes, use colour, and draw pictures. Use mind maps to help your brain absorb and remember. |

Energy Book for Life - The Guide to Energetic Living

One person who has beaten boredom with diversity and variety is Anthony Kelly - the Arrow Catcher who has 7 black belts in Martial Arts and holds 8 Guinness World Records in arrow catching, paintball catching and the most punches in a minute. He says: 'I surround myself with positive people. 'I read material that inspires positive inspiration and train as hard as I can. I am blessed that I am in constant contact with young people. I teach over 200 people per week and most of them are children. The energy I get from teaching them is fantastic.' |

Whilst in Fitzroy Gardens, I also went to the Conservatory, and wandered through the most glorious garden you can imagine. The picture at the right is just one small part. Here on the Gold Coast we have palm trees mingled with Australian native grevillea, and coloured tropical plants from many countries such as African Tulips, Singapore daisies (a 'weed', but I love them) and purple bougainvillea as well as English roses. In fact we can grow almost anything. How blessed we are to be able to enjoy this wonderful diversity of nature. In the mornings, the birds wake me with their harmonious cacophony (is this an oxymoron?) of sounds in the tall eucalypts behind my house. It gives me such a boost of energy to listen to them. |
Be energized |

Early this morning birds came in their hundreds, Flying formation from treetop to treetop, Swooping and diving and hanging from the branches, Then, all in a moment, I turned and lost interest. What was the reason that made me so special, (c) Joan Small 2004 More Poems:http://www.joansmall.com/joansmallpoetry.htm

If you wanted another variety, you would call MicrosoftHelp and they would explain that you really don't want another variety. Microsoft Chicken is all you really need.
